USC took a one-touchdown lead into the locker room after a penalty-filled first half at the Coliseum. The lone TD came on a 19-yard pass from Mark Sanchez to Patrick Turner in the second quarter. Turner made a diving catch in the back of the end zone. The Trojans had a pair of interceptions wiped out because of penalties on the same drive.

Maybe Pete Carroll was right when he called the Pac-10 schedule “ridiculously difficult” - or the Trojans just had another epic meltdown against a far lesser opponent. Either way, the end result was a shocking 27-21 loss to Oregon State.  Yes, those Beavers. The same Beavers who lost to Penn State and Stanford by a combined 39 points.

Tests revealed a hairline fracture in one of Wright’s vertebrae. He originally suffered the injury against Ohio State on Sept. 13 when he collided with a teammate.
