We can see this phenomena from two point of view. From stability and security point of view, this is good approach. Kernel 2.6.27.2 Releases
http://willysr.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 10/ kernel-26272-releases.htmlThe next stable kernel 2.7.27.2 has been released with bunch of updates and bug fixes, unlike the previous release which only contains one patch to disable the code which prevents the e1000e driver corruption to be loaded. The start of the review process for the next stable kernel (2.6.27.3) has begun and it's expected to come out very soon.
