High School Musical star Zac Efron, who previously revealed his hair was inspired by Ellen DeGeneres, is set to make £5 million by starring in a remake of eighties film “Footloose”. The 21-year-old actor will play Ren McCormack, which was originally portrayed by Kevin Bacon.

Now that “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” is ruling the global box office, Paramount is already developing the next musical for Zac Efron. Variety says the studio hopes to begin production on “Footloose” early next year, which Kenny Ortega directing and Efron starring as the lead.

Paramount Pictures is doing everything they can to make sure Zac Efron will be in the Footloose remake, and nothing can stand in their way. In the wake of the box-office domination of the Zefron-juiced High School Musical 3: Senior Year, the studio has put its remake of the Kevin Bacon classic on the fast track, with production slated to begin on the musical next spring.

Guess who got a congratulatory phone call for his work in High School Musical 3? Yep, that’s right - Zac Efron, and from none other than from the King of Pop himself.
