Ken Clarke defends Osborne... but doesn't rule out replacing him
http://the-daily-pundit.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 11/ ken-clarke-defends-osborne-but-d…Tory big beast Ken Clarke has spoken out again to defend the incompetent Shadow Chancellor, George Osborne. Clarke has told the Times that Osborne is "very good". Unfortunately he doesn't say what at. Nor does he rule out a return to frontline politics.

Letter to Theresa May
http://toque.co.uk/ blog/ ?p=1569A reply from Theresa May: Thank you for writing to me regarding the vote on regional select committees that was defeated in Parliament last Wednesday so narrowly. It was very disappointing to be beaten so narrowly but I was encouraged that it was such a close vote against a Labour party that holds such a large majority.

Ken Clarke Should be Cameron's Chancellor
http://iaindale.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 09/ ken-clarke-should-be-camerons.htmlGovernment is something which should be conducted without sentiment. This is especially true in tough economic times. For some time I have toyed with the idea of writing a column suggesting that David Cameron should make Ken Clarke Chancellor when he wins the election.

Tories still debating the English Question
http://toque.co.uk/ blog/ ?p=979Former Tory, Robin Tilbrook, leader of the English Democrats, has a guest article in support of an English parliament on Iain Dale’s Tory blog today. Robin has clearly tailored the article for a certain audience and the reception it gets will, I predict, be more interesting than the article itself.

Blogosphere leads the way
http://toque.co.uk/ blog/ ?p=945Having now actually read Clarke’s report (pdf), instead of just the accompanying press reports and interviews, I just thought I’d congratulate myself for being the first to raise the Upper West Lothian Question which was addressed in Clarke’s paper: Where would this leave a reformed and elected House of Lords?

Tories devolution plan backfires
http://welshramblings.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 07/ tories-devolution-plan-backfires.h…The Ken Clarke plan for giving English votes on English laws has caused splits in the Tories, according to a report here in the Scotsman: TORY task force's plans to restrict the ability of Scots MPs to vote on "English-only" laws have split senior Conservatives and drawn scorn from other political parties.

The Madness of Ken Clarke
http://toque.co.uk/ blog/ ?p=944It’s been a bit quiet on this blog for the last few days. This is mostly because I’ve been up in Scotland for a long weekend, drinking my face off and attending the wedding of my good friend Mr MacIsaac. However, that’s the end of fraternising with the enemy, hostilities are resumed.

Ken Clarke's answer to the West Lothian Question
http://andrew-allison.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 07/ ken-clarkes-answer-to-west-lothian…Ken Clarke has looked at the West Lothian Question and come up with a fudge. I had hoped he would have recommended that Scottish MPs have no say at all on English bills, but instead banning them from voting on the Committee and Report stages is like the current government's attempts to reform the House of Lords; a complete nonsense that leaves us in limbo.
