From where I sat on Sunday, it looked like Regan Smith had a victory stolen from him. Now, I am normally one to at least try and justify the actions of NASCAR. For better or worse I can usually see where they stand on certain issues. This one lacked sense to me.

Joe Gibbs never promised a Super Bowl when he returned to Washington in 2004 to coach the Redskins. He promised to rebuild the organization for consistent winning performance and a return to respect. That’s not the way we heard it, but that’s what he said. Jim Zorn never promised a Super Bowl either.

I can’t begin to tell you how thrilled I am to see the Redskins get off to such a great start this year, especially after that big, big win against the Cowboys. It’s comforting to know that I left the team in such capable hands. I think that team’s got a real bright future, and I take great pride in what we were able to accomplish when I was there.

Superspeedway. The fourth and final restrictor-plate event of the 36-race season is this Sunday at the vast 2.66-mile oval that is Talladega.
