http://thecurvature.com/ 2008/ 05/ 21/ update-iscoa-will-remain-in-us/Good news, folks: Sonia del Cid Iscoa will not be forcibly (or apparently otherwise) deported to Honduras. Even better, her condition has improved markedly and at an exceptional rate. (Thanks to Lindsay for the update.) St.

Riots in Tegucigalpa
http://aaron-ortiz.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ riots-in-tegucigalpa.htmlIronically, after a peace rally in San Pedro, there are riots in Tegucigalpa. Bus drivers are demanding an increase in fare, because of the rising price of fuel. It seems Hondurans think the price of diesel is something the government can arbitrarily lower.

Peace Rally in San Pedro Sula
http://aaron-ortiz.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ peace-rally-in-san-pedro-sula.htmlThis is a peace rally in San Pedro Sula, which impressed me in it's numbers. I'm not sure when it occurred. The song is by a Guillermo Anderson, who I know because his wife, Lastenia was my math teacher in High School. I only wish the rally wasn't so overtly Catholic...about 40% of the population in the cities is now evangelical, myself included.

Amidst the stories and memories, one theme kept coming up: the struggle to feed their children. Countless families mentioned “the crisis” and one family even lamented that they go hungry two or three days a week.

Back home!
http://penn-nursing-sts.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ back-home.htmlIt feels like ages have passed, but in reality it's only been a little over two weeks since we left for Honduras. I think everyone would agree that the time passed very quickly for all of us... every hot, sweaty, busy moment. :) We apologize, also, for not being able to post during our trip - our internet access was iffy at best most days.

Detour: Copan Ruinas
http://simpleroughneck.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 21/ detour-copan-ruinas/I decided to leave Utila in the direction of Nicaragua, but one of my fellow travelers was able to coerce my thinking and lead me in a different direction. I am thankful that Tasha decided that I would be going to Copan as I had yet to see any Mayan ruins. Unfortunately, while in Guatemala I chose

Prosecutor Shot
http://hondurasnews.com/ 2008/ 05/ 20/ prosecutor-shot/Police say that Honduras’ top prosecutor has been shot by his bodyguard — apparently by accident. National police chief Ambrosio Ordonez says Leonidas Rosa’s bodyguard was cleaning his weapon when it unexpectedly fired. The bullet ricocheted off the floor and grazed Rosa’s leg as he got in his car to go to work Monday.
