    Photo Friday: Behind the Scenes

    http://eternallycool.net/ 2008/ 05/ photo-friday-behind-the-scenes/

Rome is currently playing host to the Internazionale BNL d’Italia–the Italian Open Tennis Tournament. The men played last week and Novak Djovokic was crowned “the new emperor of Rome” (as the Italian papers put it). This week the women have taken to the courts–but these aren’t your usual playing fields.

DISGRASIAN OF THE WEAK! California Supreme Court Justice Ming Chin

    http://disgrasian.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ disgrasian-of-weak-california-supreme.…

Thursday, May 15th, was a historic moment for California and, we hope, the rest of America. In a 4-3 decision, the California Supreme Court overturned the state's ban on same-sex marriage. The ruling will be final and allow our gay and lesbian friends to legally and fabulously wed in 30 days.

    Great Houses of Greenwich Village

    http://www.luxist.com/ 2008/ 05/ 16/ great-houses-of-greenwich-village/

Filed under: Decor, Books Beware of acute real estate envy setting in with a new book called The Houses of Greenwich Village (Abrams, $45), by Kevin D. Murphy and Paul Rocheleau. We happen to think it's the nicest neighborhood in New York, and having resided there on occasion look forward to retuning some day - preferably to one of the palatial places pictured in this amazing anthology.

A Deep Cleaning In Deep Space

    http://www.vintageseattle.org/ 2008/ 05/ 16/ a-deep-cleaning-in-deep-space/

The Seattle Times reports that the Space Needle is getting its first deep cleaning since it opened in 1962. So that means that it’s almost as dirty as my dog Scarf (click here for a photo of that little Ewok). Over 45 years of grime that I guess you could call… vintage. Wow.

The camera is on the  rear suspension arm of James King's Brabham BT7 at the Monaco Historic Grand Prix.   Very cool.

Clam chowder at the Ye Olde Union Oyster House - Historic stablishments on Union St III

    http://abostonvignette.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ clam-chowder-at-ye-olde-union-oys…

I figured you'd like to see the interior of the oldest restaurant in the US so I had lunch there yesterday. :) I tried their clam chowder and Boston baked beans ("a house specialty for generations"). I liked the way they set the tables and the service was excellent (Linda G., a very nice lady, waited on my table).

Saturday’s The REALLY Big Day For Historic Preservation Month In Las Vegas

    http://veryvintagevegas.com/ 2008/ 05/ 15/ saturdays-the-really-big-day-for-hist…

Sometimes I feel like Kristen Peterson of the Las Vegas Sun is the best friend that the Historic Preservation Movement has. Even if she spelled my name wrong once , I absolutely love not only how she writes, but what she writes about. Today, she published all of Saturday’s events that we published on Monday, and gave them each her own special commentary.
