    Mount Gambier harness racing strong

    http://www.borderwatch.com.au/ archives/ 1534

Is the Mount Gambier Harness Racing Club the most profitable club for the sport in South Australia at present? Admittedly, there are only a handful of harness racing clubs left in the state following the demise of many in the past decade. We have seen clubs fold, amalgamate or be reduced to just one a meeting a year in recent times.

    http://grg51.typepad.com/ steroid_nation/ 2008/ 10/ pro-cyclists-no.html

So, what's up with harness racing in Kentucky? Did pro cyclists suddenly enter racing there? According to the paper, 4 harness racing horses tested positive for EPO, a drug heretofore not known to dope Kentucky horses...breaking down barriers. However as noted in the story, the horse's names will not be released.

A big score and a parlay: Off to Del Mar

Harness racing has been going on at Cal Expo, the California state fair grounds, for decades. My first job there, at 15, was as a junior apprentice pizza maker, and I still remember exactly how many pepperoni slices I was to count onto every pie — 16.

The things you see when you don’t have your camera

    http://www.petconnection.com/ blog/ 2008/ 07/ 22/ plays-well-with-others-even-ho…

Last night as I often do in the summer, I took the three retrievers (Heather now back in the mix thanks to her life jacket) and met my friend Don and his dogs at the river. There’s a spot that’s popular with dog-lovers, a rocky beach with a natural cove, where the water is shallow and the current not as strong as beyond the protecting point that’s the southern edge of the cove.

At Least One Kobe Bryant was a Winner This Week

    http://www.sportsbybrooks.com/ horse-named-kobe-bryant-wins-100000-dollar-race-1…

Kobe Bryant was a big winner, after all. And we’re not horsing around. Unfortunately for Lakers fans, we’re not talking about the b-ball superstar who was yet again denied NBA gold Tuesday night. The only Kobe Bryant to taste a championship this week was a harness racehorse in New Zealand.

    Non Profit Horse, Livestock Hauling

    http://www.equinenow.com/ horse-ad-91092

With the cost of fuel rising, transporting animals such as horses, cattle, goats, or other livestock has gotten absolutely ridiculous. I spoke with three hauling companies and none of them will even hook up for less than 300. For a 2 hour trip from Marietta to UGA vet school, they want upwards of 350-400.
