I know, I know. . . You should always back up your precious data.  Unfortunately, there are times when the catastrophic strikes at the least opportune time.  Lately, I’ve had to deal with three such crashes.  Most of the data had been backed up on other hard drives.  There was one instance though

On Friday 8th August 2008 the UKCBD main hard drive failed. Although I have been able to restore most data from back ups and data-mining the damaged drive, most emails from the period 14th July - 8th August 2008 have unfortunately been lost.

Lots of people who use laptops or desktops have lost data at one time or another and therefore can realize the absolute necessity for online backup. A simple disruption in our electrical power or a sudden surge as we are busy working could result in losing important data.

Last time we heard about a story where a guy opened up the Blackbox and modified it now here is another story which I can bet we wont even think of it. This guy had his hard drive not working for some reason. He had his 3 months of huge data back in there.

In the blink of an eye you could lose all data and personal information including your files, photos and videos. Some of the causes of data loss could be lightening, robbery, exposure to moisture or water or more likely a hard drive malfunction.
