Hi I new to Volkswagons but very mechanically inclinded, I have a 1999.5 Jetta 2.0 lt. Automatic and it has started to hold the shifts to long and won't upshift till it gets to aprox 4500 rpm at first it was intermetant but now it seems to be doing it steady would anyone have an idea what may be causing it to do this as I'm lost ?

In what may be the least shocking news you will read today, Volkswagen will indeed be launching a revised GTI model shortly after its recently revealed sixth-generation Golf (or, Rabbit, as it’s known in the U.S.) hits the market.

According to Autocar, sources inside Volkswagen have revealed that the Mark 6 Golf GTI will get the new 211 PS Valvelift EA888 engine found in the Audi A4 and A5.

VW insiders have revealed that the company plans to launch a 2009 VW GTI soon after the release of the 2009 VW Golf. The new GTI will use a 211 HP 2.0-liter four-cylinder, gaining 11 HP over the current model, but still far short of rivals like the 2008 MazdaSpeed3 and 2009 Subaru WRX.

Volkswagen will launch a new high-performance VW Golf GTI soon after its standard flagship hatchback, company sources have revealed. It should arrive in showrooms in spring 2009, but we may get a sneak preview of the new GTI as soon as October, when a concept is tipped to be unveiled.

For the first time since Volkswagen introduced the Golf Cabriolet will they be building the car totally in house at its plant in Wolfsburg Germany. All previous Golf Cabriolets have been built by Karmann at the independent vehicle manufacturers facility also in Germany.

Here’s the first official pictures of the new 2009 Volkswagen Golf. The sixth incarnaton of the Golf has a front-end that looks very reminiscent of its sibling the new Scirocco - which has divided opinion on this blog.
