Canada should have a progressive federal government

    http://www.paulhillsdon.com/ blog/ 2008/ 09/ 06/ canada-should-have-a-progressiv…

With the federal election right around the corner, the latest polls are showing that the Tories are within “striking distance” of a majority, something that is both shocking and quite frightening. If you have followed Stephen Harper or some of his colleagues’ history, you will know that they are truly conservative individuals with extremely right wing agendas.

UK Greens Elect First Leader in Party’s History

    http://redgreenandblue.org/ 2008/ 09/ 06/ uk-greens-elect-first-leader-in-partys…

On Friday, the UK Green Party named their first leader in since the party’s formal inception in 1985. Caroline Lucas was elected leader following a ballot of the party’s members on Friday in London. Until now the Green party has always had what they call “principal speakers,” that act as spokespeople for the party, rather than any structure of formal leadership.

Caroline Lucas - should the Lib Dems be worried?

    http://www.theliberati.net/ quaequamblog/ 2008/ 09/ 06/ caroline-lucas-should-th…

Caroline Lucas has just won the Green Party leadership election with 92% of the vote. Rumours that she is about to grow a moustache and answer to the name Saddam are apparently wide of the mark. Seriously though, the Lib Dems should be worried about this.

    Three Cheers for Tim Leunig!

    http://www.theliberati.net/ quaequamblog/ 2008/ 09/ 06/ three-cheers-for-tim-leu…

Tim Leunig has written an excellent, one page article in the Green Lib Dems‘ Challenge magazine about why Lib Dem support for road user charging is thoroughly wrong headed. Sadly, you can’t read the article online as it is GLD policy not to do so in order to encourage you to join the organisation (for the record, I disagree with that policy, but it is what it is).

"The End Of The World - Coming Next Week! (Possibly)" Has been the sort of sensationalist line of the UK media this week when commenting on next week's scheduled switch on of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world's largest particle accelerator complex, buried deep beneath the French-Swiss

From Family Fun to Family Feud: Obama Crashes the Dinner Party…

    http://insightanalytical.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 09/ 06/ from-family-fun-to-family-…

~~Posted by kenosha Marge I remember some very lively Holiday Dinner table conversation when I was growing up. That’s because my mother and her family were all Republicans and my father and his family were all Democrats. Politics was often the topic. I remember heated arguments with yelling and with laughter.

A Tale of Two Books: Obama Nation vs. Obama’s Challenge

    http://www.chelseagreen.com/ content/ ?p=1401

When it comes to book sales, Conservative publishers seem to have Progressive publishers (like your humble Chelsea Green) over a barrel. They have huge, organized networks—church groups, book clubs, corporations, political organizations—on standby, ready to take the next Conservative hatchet job and distribute it as far and wide as possible.
