Search engines for genealogy and family history research

    http://methodius.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ search-engines-for-genealogy-and-family…

Over the last ten years or so Google has become the most popular web search engine — to much so that “to google” has become synonymous with searching the web. It’s become a generic term. When Jackie Seaman announced her Growden reunion, I thought I’d do a web search for Growden, and started with Google because Firefox puts it so conveniently in the toolbar.

Cheap SEO: it’s about quality, not price

    http://www.algojunkie.com/ cheap-seo-it%e2%80%99s-about-quality-not-price/ 33/

Buying SEO services by price point alone is definitely in invitation for poor quality services, and even worse, can invite a penalty in Google. India has probably done more than any other country to position itself as the “SEO spam” capital, with a huge number of companies fighting to offer the cheapest service that delivers the smallest results.

    Google Servers Overloaded

    http://www.yugatech.com/ blog/ gooooogle/ 502-server-error-google/

Google needs to add a couple more thousand servers on its racks. Been getting a lot of these 502 Server Errors lately. This time, it’s the Ad Manager I can’t access for several hours now. Imagine if these crawls up into GMail or Google Search? 502 Service Temporarily Overloaded: Server congestion; too many connections; high traffic.

How many failures does Google have?

    http://joeanderson.co.uk/ blog/ 2008/ 05/ 17/ how-many-failures-does-google-have…

Google is often seen as the perfect business but they too have several products which, quite simply, have failed. Firstly, there is Google Answers which Google shut in 2006. Google Answers was a paid question and answer service.

Running WebPosition Gold? Using RankChecker? Go to jail.

    http://blog.arhg.net/ 2008/ 05/ running-webposition-gold-using.html

The story of Megan Meier is terrible and tragic. The poor girl killed herself as a result of cyberbulling at MySpace. Her neighbour, Lori Drew, had created a fake persona at MySpace and used it to torment her. It took US prosecutors nearly two years to find a law they could bring to bare against Lori Drew.
