Artists for Change
http://gomakesomething.com/ blog/ 082908afc/As some of you know, I’m a big supporter of Kiva, an organization that facilitates loans to small business owners around the world. In the past, I’ve asked people to sign up to encourage me to do things like create free printable countdowns, and add my address as the person who led them to the site, so they’ll show up on my Kiva lender page.

Troy’s Crock Pot: Moldy Dungeon II, the Wrath of Plaster
http://www.gnomestew.com/ tools-for-gms/ troys-crock-pot-moldy-dungeon-ii-the-wr…What’s the Crock Pot? Just a simmering bowl of lentils and herbs, with a dash of DMing observations. Don’t be afraid to dip in your ladle and stir, or throw in something from your own spice rack. I posted earlier about purchasing some of Hirst Arts’ CastleMolds with the intent of making a modular dungeon for my gaming sessions.

Message in a Bottle Update
http://gomakesomething.com/ blog/ 082508mibupdate/Wow, it’s been quite a weekend for Message in a Bottle! Over 40 people have signed up, and I’ve sent out a dozen bottles so far. I’m still accepting sign-ups, although you probably won’t receive a bottle from me.

Flashbacks and Short Stories
http://www.gnomestew.com/ tools-for-gms/ flashbacks-and-short-storiesThere are a lot of interesting ways to handle time and history in your game. Most of us default into straightforward linear time as characters wander from event to event, like we do in our own lives. Sometimes it’s good to mix that up; visiting the character’s past can be a great chance to reveal information that puts the present in a new light.

August 25 - Alice in Wonderland
http://gomakesomething.com/ blog/ 082508alice/This week’s Make It Mondays challenge is to step through the looking glass, and create a piece of artwork inspired by Alice in Wonderland. Whatever you want to make is fine—an ATC, a gluebook page, an altered book layout, a card, whatever. Your goal is just to make something.

Art from Blesst1

Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam…
http://gomakesomething.com/ blog/ 082308spam/I’ve been experiencing a higher than usual amount of comment spam recently. This isn’t anything any of you are posting—your comments are terrific, and much appreciated. This is stuff generated by bots designed to post hundreds of irrelevant comments filled with links to all sorts of things I’d just rather not know about *ahem*.

The Artful Storybook
http://gomakesomething.com/ blog/ 082108artful-storybook/The always fabulous Barbe Saint John turned me on to The Artful Storybook, which arrived this week via Amazon.com. It’s a mixed-media approach to creating storybooks—so, rather than making an altered book with a general theme and random artwork, you use your artwork to tell and illustrate a story from beginning to end.

Troy’s Crock Pot: In the Land of the Little People
http://www.gnomestew.com/ tools-for-gms/ troys-crock-pot-in-the-land-of-the-litt…He’s a regular Becky HomeEc-y I like doing crafts. You’re more likely to see me in a Michael’s, a Hobby Lobby or even the paint section at Wal-Mart as you are at a game store. I guess I’m always looking for creative outlets. And painting the 25mm metal miniatures used in roleplaying games is just one way I express myself.
