While wondering today how I would segue into writing about model Christy Turlington and former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell's recent campaign for maternal health, I unexpectedly came across a blog post about that very subject that stopped me in my tracks and left me in tears.

Have you ever heard of Global Giving? Well, as the NYTimes just reported, Global Giving has gone GREEN! Global Giving is a website that connects you to “over 450 pre-screened grassroots charity projects around the world.

As Americans gain a better understanding of developing nations’ growing contributions to environmental problems, it’s only natural for them to second-guess their charitable giving.

Global Giving, the website where people like you and me can safely donate money to charities that make a difference, unveiled it’s new green section on Friday.  Now, you can give money to charities that Global Giving has deemed worthy of it’s green leaf of approval.  Can you be more specific, you may ask?  Why, I happen to have information straight from the website, right now!

We’re launching a new “shade” of GlobalGiving today – GlobalGiving Green. GlobalGiving Green looks at development through a green lens – and vice versa, for that matter – and enables you to support projects that are fighting poverty and dealing with climate change at the same time.

Rather than continue letting my list of “things to blog about” grow this month, I have decided to compile everything into a single blog post.  Some items are new, others are old but still relevant. I wanted to welcome new GlobalGiving staffer, Cecilia Snyder.  As you can see by the picture on the right, she’s ready to go!  She is joining our Supply Fortress as the Community Marketing Manager, and we’re excited to have her join the GG Team.

Former employees of GlobalGiving know that they never really leave the GG family. And of course, this means that their children are immediately issued a GlobalGiving account and building ID card. In May we had a visit from Alumni baby number one - Willa.
