An Undemocratic Democracy
http://theviewspaper.net/ featured/ 2008/ 08/ 4056The Indian democracy celebrates its diverse, secular and libertarian credentials often but I wonder if they actually hold true in today’s times! Agreed we are secular but we do allow people to lynch others on religious disputes without guilt or shame? Citizens are allowed freedom of speech and the right to dissent but we also have laws like CSPSA or the AFSPA which become constricting.

As we say in French, «à chacun son métier et les vaches seront bien gardées» (”to each their own profession and cows will be well-kept”).

Plants clamber uphill to escape climate change heat

A study of 171 species of forest plants found in mountainous regions of Europe showed that most shifted to a higher altitude as temperatures warm up.
