I had interesting discussion the other day with one of the project managers for the new Dublin Airport terminal. As we were standing there talking an advert came on the television for Gillette Razors, I believe it was the Fusion, and we both came to the same 2 conclusions.

Started running in late 2007, even spawned a second commercial with Derek Jeter replacing Henry (we assume one shown just in the States). So what’s happened since the original ad? All of them have suffered some severe career change.

I’ve long bristled under the 3 and 4 blade razors that dominate the market today. Perhaps they provide a marginally closer shave (I doubt it), but I find these enormous razors cumbersome and unable to handle the curves of my chin and neck.

For the past two months I have been using a Gillette Fusion. I have not been impressed with the quality of the shave I received from the Fusion and while shopping yesterday I picked up a Schick Quattro Midnight. In my opinion the Quattro looks better than the Gillette Fusion.

I am the happy victim of a defective Gillette Fusion Razor

The thing’s gotta be defective. I’ve been shaving (3+ times a week) since late last year with the same blade, and it still works perfectly. Maybe Gillette will buy it from me so they can figure out what they did wrong. All the other blades in the box lasted one or two months, tops. But this one just won’t die. I think when it eventually does get dull, I’ll bury it.
