Ever since I first saw the quilts of Gee’s Bend at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, I’ve been paying attention to this craft, particularly when I come across contemporary riffs on tradition. Citizen:Citizen is an especially crass example, recalling quilts made of flour sacks and other repurposed materials, but with an “ironic” $4900 price tag.

I'm one of those Library patrons... The ones that keep books waaaay too long. In fact, for a period of time, I believe the book is mine in the most selfish way. If I remember, I renew my books for as long as I can; however, all too often I forget to renew them, and the fees rack up.

Have you seen the movie How To Make An American Quilt? It’s a really great movie starring Winona Ryder as a young woman getting ready to get married. Her grandmother and her friends all decide to make a wedding quilt for her. While they are quilting, they start sharing the stories of their lives and we see all the different stories from the past.
