http://www.statravelbuzz.co.uk/ exploring-the-brazilian-underworld-exploitation-…Yes, we’re all reeling at the news that Private Tours, a Rio de Janeiro-based company that offers tourists the full slum experience including a nice chat and photo opportunity with Brazil’s finest gun-toting, crack-pushing crims, is being shut down by the authorities.

Rio Police Still Killing Innocents in Their So-Called War on "Traficantes"

Santa Shot At in Rio
http://alterdestiny.blogspot.com/ 2007/ 12/ santa-shot-at-in-rio.htmlI still haven't made up my mind over whether this is kind of amusing or really sad (though I do take issue with the story's description of Rio as "the violent Brazilian city of Rio" - Rio has neither a monopoly on violence, nor is violence the first thing that characterizes the city as a whole).
