http://tigerhawk.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 11/ oil-prices-and-balance-of-power-in-gulf…
By TigerHawk at 11/22/2008 08:58:00 AM With the price of oil having fallen roughly 70% since July, we might wonder what the impact will be on the balance of power in the Persian Gulf. In a very interesting article about Aramco, the Saudi state oil company, George Friedman captures the Saudi ...

Has the power sharing brand been damaged?

    http://oconallstreet.com/ 2008/ 11/ 18/ has-the-power-sharing-brand-been-damaged…

Today’s Irish News piece considers the damage to the standing of power sharing as a system of government after 152 days of political stagnation. The word on O’Conall St and on every other street for that matter is that there will be a meeting of the Executive on Thursday.

The Cult of Ron Paul has nothing on the Cult of the Presidency

    http://libertymaven.com/ 2008/ 11/ 14/ the-cult-of-ron-paul-has-nothing-on-the-c…

There is no mistaking those faithful activist followers of Ron Paul with the general drooling masses swayed into true belief in the boundless ability of the American presidency. It even filters down to presidential candidates. Myths become reality and contradictions are ignored.

    Evan Bayh: Dupe

    http://d-day.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 11/ evan-bayh-dupe.html

I actually watched this last night, and it was pathetic:BAYH: I don't think this is about Joe Lieberman, Rachel. I think this is about maximizing our chances of making the changes that we need in America, maximizing the chances that President-elect Obama will meet those expectations you referred to

Corporate Governance: Promises Kept, Promises Broken: Jonathan R. Macey

Editorial Reviews Review Macey’s book is must reading for any serious student of corporate governance. He brings his usual keen analyses and fresh insights to a field where unexamined received wisdom and advocacy of me–too ‘best practices’ have too often been the norm. (John F.

    Closing Guantanamo

    http://d-day.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 11/ closing-guantanamo.html

Yesterday's leak that the incoming Obama Administration is seriously drawing plans to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba is very welcome news. But it's not uniformly welcome. There are, of course, problems here. The AP's reporting suggests Obama is considering a "hybrid process" between the military commissions and the full process enjoyed by U.S.

    Obama and the Stewart-Colbert Axis

    http://lettersinbottles.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 11/ obama-and-stewart-colbert-axis.h…

How to proceed? Will a rabidly pro-Obama viewership permit the hosts to critique the man they put on a pedestal?I do not think it will.  It's largely comprised of those embracing the monolithic anti-Bush youth identity.  I won't go so far as Peter Hitchens and call it a cult "bereft of reason and hostile to facts," but it certainly comes close at times.

    http://genehealy.com/ 2008/ 11/ after-the-imperial-presidency/

Jonathan Mahler has a smart, informative feature on executive power in this week’s New York Times Magazine. I object only to the title, “After the Imperial Presidency.” As Mahler’s piece makes clear, the title could have used a question mark, at the very least.
