Just off the heels of huge opening of Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa Chris Rock is partnering with Sidney Kimmel Entertainment and Sony’s Screen Gems to rework the 2007 British comedy Death at a Funeral. Rock plans to produce, co-write with Aeysha Carr and star in the black comedy.

“Death at a Funeral” has been on my To-Watch list for eons, but I’ve yet to get there yet. Has anyone seen the 2007 British flick? I should watch it soon, so I can compare with the remake coming up. Chris Rock is on board to produce, star, and co-write the script with Aeysha Carr.

Chris Rock will co-write and star in the remake of Frank Oz’s 2007 comedy “Death at a Funeral,” according to Variety. The film focuses on a funeral ceremony during which cadavers are misplaced, people engage in indecent exposure, and dirty family secrets suddenly come to light.

Chris Rock is writing and starring in a remake of the 2007 British comedy, Death at a Funeral. A film that came out just last year, was directed by an American (Frank Oz), had pretty good exposure here in the US, and is already in English.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Rock will be teaming up with Sidney Kimmel Entertainment and Screen Gems for a re-imagining of Frank Oz’s 2007 British comedy Death at a Funeral. Rock will produce and star in the film, in addition to co-writing the script with Ayesha Carr (an Everybody Hates Chris veteran).

If I had to sum up this movie in a sentence I would say “Death at a Funeral is an almost comedy with some glaring deficiencies.” It I had to rename it I would call it “Planet of the Pale Males.” There was not a single person of colour in the entire movie. Not one.

So the wife and I decide to watch Death At A Funeral the other night. I start the movie off and about three minutes into it I realize what I always realize every single time I watch a British movie. That I can't hear a single goddamn word they're saying.
