David Hume: Of the Delicacy of Taste and Passion

    http://moderato.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 16/ david-hume-of-the-delicacy-of-taste…

SOME People are subject to a certain delicacy of passion,*1 which makes them extremely sensible to all the accidents of life, and gives them a lively joy upon every prosperous event, as well as a piercing grief, when they meet with misfortunes and adversity.

Last night I had the opportunity to meet and hear from David Hume Kennerly, a world renowned photographer who was President Gerald Ford's personal photographer during his years at the White House. In case you're wondering who this guy is, he has photographed a who's who of world leaders.

    What’s this all about?

    http://rutipo.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 11/ whats-this-all-about/

What do I plan to have here, you’re probably asking yourself. (if you are - good; if not - pretend to be asking yourself. Are you doing that? No? Okay. I’m waiting. And NOW have you asked yourself? Good. Thank you. You can read on). Well, everyone perceives reality in a different way, everyone sees things from their own point of view.

I'm so smart I blow my mind sometimes.

In reply to a comment that David Hume simply must have been an atheist. I am familiar with David's work and insights and despite our current understanding, it would be entirely plausible for a rational empirical person of the time to believe in God. All that we can know clearly comes from our senses.

    Hume: Comparing notes with Locke

    http://philgroup1.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ hume-comparing-notes-with-locke.html

In this blog, I want to compare the existance of God between Locke and Hume because they're both empiricists. Locke claimed that all of our thoughts, ideas, concepts and actions came from perception and gained experience.

    Hume: Existence of God

    http://philgroup1.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ hume-existence-of-god.html

Hume mentions God, and how we think of one as perfect. If I read correctly, it seems Hume is disproving god because the world is imprefect. This quality of the world is something god cannot posess, therefore he does not exist? The thought of a god, or the concept of a god is a useless matter according to Hume.
