The Kentucky Space Consortium has passed another big milestone towards the completion of the KySat-1 Cubesat. After some very long days (and nights) these past few weeks, the  "bake-out" of all the circuit boards that will make up the flight model for KySat-1 has been completed.

Space is really an economic strategy. KySat-1 found its way to the front page of the Kentucky Kernel, the University of Kentucky's campus newspaper, today. Though there are a number of interesting quotes in the article - read them all - the following expresses what, for me, is so appealing about the entire orbital program of Kentucky Space.

Since I frequently come across news about cubesat efforts in the news I get, I've added a cubesat feed, taken from my Ma.gnolia account, to the lower right sidebar of the blog. Feel free to check back on the blog or take the feed directly. I'll bookmark projects and missions as I come across them.

It's been a while since we have posted any detail regarding the status of KySat-1 - we have been pretty busy testing the cube. One of the most recent accomplishments, however, has been the completion of the conformal coating application process. Conformal coating is a very thin (~3 mil) acrylic coating applied to all of our hardware.
