Give Judy a Day to Herself

    http://www.patchworktimes.com/ give-judy-a-day-to-herself/

Vince was off Monday and Tuesday so you know what I accomplished!  Nothing . . you know it . . same thing happens to you when your husband is home all day. And, remember that Vince comes home every day for lunch.  I’m happy to see him . . yes, I really am . .

    CRABAPPLES-- THE FORGOTTEN FRUIT

    http://veganfeastkitchen.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 08/ crabapples-forgotten-fruit.html

Crabapples are tart and tangy, and beautiful to look at. Their red or pink skins turn any product you make with them a gorgeous hot pink, too! They also grow well in my area (Western BC, Canada). Unfortunately, you need to have a tree growing in your yard, or know someone who does, because they are an old-fashioned fruit and you can't find them in stores.

    http://dekerivers.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 08/ 29/ crab-apple-jelly-making-time-with…

On a recent walk in Madison we spotted one of the biggest crab apple trees I have ever seen, which was loaded with a bumper crop of fruit all deep red, and pleading to be used for jelly.  The owner of the tree said that there was no one else who had any interest in the apples, so with that we

2008_08_08 - jelly in the window 005.JPG - Crab Apple Jelly Here's the crab apple jelly that I made this morning.  It is almost clear enough to see through.  Our first project this morning was picking apples.  My hubby's brother came over and he and I got into the bucket on the loader.

2008_08_07 - crabapple jelly, etc 002.JPG - Jelly in the Window Here's today's batch of crab apple jelly cooling on the window sill.  As you can tell, I put jelly in whatever leftover jar I can find.  I would like to get one nice set of jars to use as gifts.  I looked at Wal-Mart today,

2008_08_06 012.JPG - yellow daisy for Vox I installed some new software on my computer tonight.  I've been experimenting with the photo editing program.  I didn't do anything to this wildflower except copy and resize.  I'm going to have to spend a lot more time working with it to really

2008_08_06 027 - crab apple tree for Vox Here's my main project for today.  This crab apple tree is loaded with apples.  Most of them are good, and pretty good size this year.  Crab apple jelly is very good.  We had rain to the north and to the south of us yesterday afternoon, but all

Tennis Ball are not meant to be eaten

    http://skinnymoose.com/ tailsandtrails/ 2008/ 07/ 23/ tennis-ball-are-not-meant-…

This is a story that I sure hope has a good ending. It seems that this doe mistook a tennis ball for an apple and now has it stuck in her mouth. From what I read this is not the first time this has happened.

    Crabapples Forming

    http://maritimegardener.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 06/ crabapples-forming.html

Ornamental crabapple blooms, nearly spent but just as interesting with their stamens reaching skyward. If you look closely you can see the little fruit forming. These are yet another of Landsdowne's tiny treasures.
