Who hosts your financial institution? May 4th, 2008 I always find it interesting to see where certain industries host at or buy their transit from so I thought it would be interesting to look at the financial sector. Please note that this is just who is hosting each institution’s website and doesn’t include who they may be buying other services from.

Silicon Valley-based startup Mint, which provides a service that lets users manage their checking, savings and credit card accounts online, will launch a new product on May 6 that let’s users track virtually any type of investment account as well. Users will now be able to manage all of their financial assets on the Mint site.

“In our first nine months we have demonstrated that there are tens of thousands of self-directed investors out there who are as good, if not better than the pros,” stated Covestor CEO, Rikki Tahta. Covestor is a social network with a niche that focuses on investment managers.

Covestor, an investing community site, has raised $6.5 million in its first round of venture funding. The London and New York-based company plans to build out its asset management platform, which helps its users make investment decisions. In a nutshell, Covestor is a service that’s aimed at both average investors and professional fund managers.

Someone track the performance of this investment: Covestor, the site where you can openly manage real investment portfolios, has raised $6.5M in Series A from Union Square Ventures, Spark Capital and Amadeus Capital Partners. We first wrote about Covestor back in October when the site managed $100M worth of holdings.

We’ve seen social editing, social networking, social news, social bookmarking, and even social music take off. Now a social shock to the system is coming to a market usually dominated by insiders and experts: the finance industry.

Original post on The Sun’s Financial Diary Yesterday, I received a letter from CollegeAdvantage, the Ohio 529 college savings plan, regarding lowered cost for the Vanguard portfolios. The letter says starting February 1, the total administrative cost for the Vanguard options will be reduced by 0.02%.

Online bill pay service Billeo has announced a $7 million Series B round of funding. ATA Ventures led the financing, with additional contributions from all of Billeo’s existing investors including Altos Ventures, Claremont Creek and Pacifica Fund.
