National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, May 16, 2002 I don’t think anybody could have predicted that these people would take an airplane and slam it into the World Trade Center, take another one and slam it into the Pentagon; that they would try to use an airplane as a missile, a hijacked airplane as a missile.

Condoleezza Rice isn’t feeling Sarah Palin. When she spoke to CNN recently, the Secretary of State smiled like a loyal Republican as she praised Palin’s convention speech and dodged questions about the 18-month Alaska governor’s lack of expertise in foreign policy.

Say what you will about Condoleezza Rice, she did make a good point. There are not enough Black people working in the US State dept. Rice made this assertion in an article on CNN.com and credited her family and education as integral pieces for building her career in politics.

It is hard for me to image that we would warn Georgia not to get sucked into a military conflict and they simply gave us the Bronx salute. How is it in their best interest to ignore our warnings? Or is Secretary Condolezza Rice telling us a fib? This administration isn’t big on diplomacy although they have been better over the last 12 - 18 months.

Condi Rice has agreed to a troop withdrawal timetable to end the occupation of Iraq. The cowardly defeatocrats and cut ‘n’ runners have kicked ass. Declaring that the deal means “the left won the Iraq debate,” Spencer Ackerman notes that the withdrawal plan is nearly identical to the plan offered by the Center for American Progress.

As Emptywheel suggests, why else is Team Bush so freaked out about this: The White House has started to panic over a July 9 meeting between Condi Rice and Mikheil Saakashvili, desperate to suggest they didn’t encourage Georgia’s crack-down in South Ossetia.
