http://www.jossip.com/ al-roker-now-the-smartest-man-on-the-today-show-20081007/…
To be fair, when Matt Lauer had Robert Kennedy Jr. on his show to talk about the "Democratic activist's" new children's book, he probably thought it was going to be a breeze. But if there is one thing they teach you in Morning Show Journalism 101, it's that you never ask a Kennedy how a family member is doing. ...

    Words to Know: Brobdingnagian Edition

    http://www.randomkitty.net/ blog/ 2008/ 10/ 07/ words-to-know-brobdingnagian-edi…

Ok so admittedly it isn’t going to be quite that big, but it does give me an opportunity to use the first WTK vocabulary term: brobdingnagian. This originates from the Jonathan Swift novel, Gulliver’s Travels. The term was coined as a reference to the city in which Gulliver visits where everything is just huge.

Cybils references are still popping up all over the web, with many mentions from the Kidlitosphere blogs (thank you all so much!!) and several that reach out into other communities. The Graveyard Book - Review

    http://thenovelworld.com/ 2008/ 10/ 07/ the-graveyard-book-review/

Fans of Rudard Kipling’s Jungle Book and Harry Potter will find many similarities between these three titles. The Jungle Book, along with Neil Gaiman watching his son bike through a graveyard was the primary inspiration for this moody and dark children’s book about an orphaned boy being raised by a most peculiar crowd.

Anne Hathaway and Bonham Carter Added to ‘Wonderland’ Cast

    http://www.screenhead.com/ reviews/ anne-hathaway-and-bonham-carter-added-to-won…

Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland casting wit shines brightly with Anne Hathaway as Queen White and Helena Bonham Carter as Queen Red.  Hathaway’s Queen White is kind to Alice who helps her defeat a creature known as the Bandersnatch. Bonham Carter’s Queen Red yells, “Off with her head!!!” Johnny Depp plays the Mad Hatter while Michael Sheen is also casted.

    The Great Paper Caper

    http://babyccinoblog.com/ ?p=1762

Mr. Oliver Jeffers, the handsome man himself, told me last spring that his new book would be released in October.  So, being on the alert, I sent him an e-mail last week asking (ever so politely) when, oh WHEN, can I buy his new book??!!  He replied immediately and told me it’s available NOW!  Whoo hoo!

    September: Seven-Word Reviews

    http://blog.chainreader.com/ 2008/ 10/ september-seven-word-reviews.html

I'm so proud of myself that I was able to control my reading a bit this month! I'm trying to think of what I accomplished with that extra time but my mind is a blank. I'm sure I did something productive . . . Of September's books, two were audio books, two were children's books, and one non-fiction.

Children’s Book Giveaway: Welcome to Your World, Baby

    http://kristenmclane.com/ 2008/ 10/ 06/ childrens-book-giveaway-welcome-to-your-…

When you are expecting your second child (or third or fourth…) you wonder how the older sibling will adjust. I remember one of my friends telling me how much her daughter loved taking care of their new baby - her exact words were “little mommy.” Just last night a friend remarked how well Megan and Paul played together.
