Sipping it with the old school!
http://wineguyworld.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 09/ sipping-it-with-old-school.htmlNow this is old school. The recipe for the Bijou cocktail first appeared in Harry Johnson’s Bartender’s Manual in 1882! Bijou is also the French word for jewel. Various sources have it named after the colors of the various intoxicants it contains: green Chartreuse for emeralds; gin for diamonds; and sweet vermouth for rubies.

Environmentally aware cocktailing? Excellent!!
http://wineguyworld.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 09/ first-thought-i-had-when-i-read.htmlThe first thought I had when I read Washington Post spirits columnist Jason Wilson's column inspired by his recent visit to the Slow Food Nation in san Francisco was "You mean now I can go green and get drunk at the same time? Outstanding!" That must mean that my hangover is responsible and sustainable, too.

theory’s fall collection
http://serafinablog.com/ petitefashion/ 2008/ 09/ 16/ theorys-fall-collection/The nip of fall hasn’t yet arrived LA, but we all know it’s coming. So why not prepare with a stroll through Theory’s new Web site and fall collection? Of course, by stroll, I mean shopping spree. Rather than the usual shades of brown and burgundy, this season is all about bright colors (pink and teal and chartreuse, oh my!) accenting blacks and grays.

Reasons to Love Chartreuse
http://lupecboston.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 09/ reasons-to-love-chartreuse.htmlChartreuse is an enchanting liqueur if there ever was one. As we covered in this week's Dig, the Chartreuse we drink today is based on a recipe for an "Elixir of Long Life" that was handed down to the Order of Carthusian monks in the 17th century.

The Final Ward
http://flyboyz.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 08/ 22/ the-final-ward/This is Phil Ward’s take on the Last Word cocktail and I have to admit that I like this version much better. The main difference is that it replaces gin with rye and is made with bigger proportions. The FInal Ward 1 oz rye whiskey (Rittenhouse) 1 oz green Chartreuse 1 oz Maraschino liqueur 1 oz lime

The Nuclear Daiquiri
http://flyboyz.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 08/ 15/ the-nuclear-daiquiri/This both insane and delicious cocktail comes to us via Germany courtesy of the ‘Pimp Your Drink’ crew. I honestly have a pretty high tolerance but was feeling this one as it combines over-proof rum with chartreuse which is 110 proof in it’s own right.
