The forthcoming War Child Benefit compilation album ‘Heroes‘ has been postponed. The fund-raising album, which is set to feature covers of classic songs written by Paul McCartney, Ray Davies and Joy Division, has been postponed until early 2009 from its previously scheduled date of Nov. 24.

Regular readers might remember that earlier in year Island band, The Kurves played a charity gig to prisoners at Camp Hill Prison. Jamie Fineran, lead singer in The Kurves, who also works at the prison approached, ‘the guvner’ Ian Young to ask whether his band could put on the charity gig, raising cash for the Hospice whilst bringing something from the outside world to the prisoners.

Everyone's favorite comeback queen, Britney Spears, made a surprise visit to a junior high school in New York's Bronx neighborhood last Wednesday. The students of John Philip Sousa Junior High, who were thrilled to meet the uber pop star, were even more pleased when she presented the school with a $10,000 check for the school's music program!
