This update just in from Neal Kelley, Orange County Registrar of Voters regarding the extension of filing period in several races across the County. EXTENSION OF CANDIDATE FILING PERIOD FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION (Non-City Contests) Santa Ana, CA  August 8 , 2008 - The Registrar of Voters announced today that the nomination period has been extended until August 13, 2008, 5:00 p.m.

As a result of the state’s budget crisis, and it’s impact on Prop 98 school funding, the Capistrano Unified School District, CUSD, made a decision to reduce bus service for students living in Mission Viejo as well as other communities served by the District.

The early results are in and it appears that the Capistrano Unified School District recall has been a huge success.  Both of the Trustees facing recall are toast.  Over 70% of the votes are in favor of the recall. Former Assemblyman Ken Maddox is in the lead in area 5 to replace Sheila Benecke with over 54% of the vote.

That’s what Capistrano Unified School District is asking parents to do, pay $400 out of their pockets to try to keep from having to lay off hundreds of teachers in their district.  This is not considered a tax in of itself? South Orange County families are being urged to donate $400 per student to save the jobs of 266 teachers in the Capistrano Unified School District.

I’m sure that’s what many think of when reading about politics in Orange County but it seems that Republicans in the State of California have not given in to the idea that the State is “Hopelessly Blue”.  I hate to inform them, but I think they are in for a rude awakening. Hoping to find a successor to popular Gov.

Yes, you read that right. The Governator is going to be making a public appearance at a private school in Orange County and to add insult to injury, thousands of parents of children in public school plan on protesting this appearance.

Yesterday we had a teacher failing a kid for using religious imagery in his artwork, and now we have a teacher making openly “anti-Christian” remarks in the middle of a European history class. These people just don’t get it, do they? Maybe Mr.

“It’s not enough to just have parents worried about this,” said Celia Jaffe, the Fourth District PTA’s vice president for advocacy. “It’s got to be the rest of the voting public – besides parents who have kids in schools – who let the government know what our values are.” So why do Celia Jaffe & the PTA think all of us should be worried?

So, the recall is official and so is the opportunity to run for CUSD Board of Trustees is wide open.
