When I started my end-to-end hike of the Long Trail this year, I planned to avoid sleeping in shelters. This is an attitude shared by a lot of other backpackers, especially those who hike the Appalachian Trail, where shelters are often infested by mice and crowded with other smelly, loud, and snoring backpackers.

It’s always nice when a device is a multitasker. And if anyone watches the cooking show, “Good Eats,” they’ll know how a multitasking device can save you money and space. However, what would you say to a lamp that is also a stereo speaker? The AmpLamp is a concept design that sports the form of a lamp, yet has speakers tucked away within the lamp shade.

Integrating technology with style & design isn’t always easy at home. A nicely designed space with a spaghetti-tangle of wires just doesn’t cut it. That’s why I love products like the AmpLamp.

Earlier today I sat as part of the MPA's Professional Standards Cases Sub-committee that took the decision to suspend Commander Dizaei. This is a serious issue and I do not intend to discuss the details on this blog.

First Tracks has a phenomenal overview of all the improvements that took place over the summer at ski resorts around Vermont. If you’re planning to head to Vermont this winter or live there now, you’ll definitely want to check this article out.
