BY ALISA PRIDDLE BMW adds a performance diesel to the U.S. lineup, but no seven-speed dual clutch. BMW has released the first official pictures of the new 3-series sedan and wagon that will be unveiled this fall at the 2009 Paris auto show, prior to going on sale in North America in October.

The most significant news, perhaps, lies in its name: following the example of its older sisters, the BMW X3 will earn the xDrive appellation, indicating its engine roots. We’ll be seeing some new options though, to give lustre to a model which has fast grown old. Just as well they understood this over in Munich.

BMW has unveiled photos and things pertaining to the facelifted, Euro-spec 2009 3 line sedan and wagon. We touched on the Residual updates yesterday, but to recap, the car sports a adjusted front fascia, a new hood, restyled mirrors, and out back, reshaped taillamps. The unrest are subtle, but good.
