BMW lighten up August 15, 2008 Posted by: Faye Sunderland A good end to the week now, with a picture of BMW’s extraordinary concept, the GINA Light. BMW proclaim that customers looking to buy in the premium segment demand cars that stir emotions and allow them to “express their individuality”.

The BMW GINA Light Visionary Model is a concept car with a difference; instead of a skin of steel, it’s covered in a sheath of cloth. And if my thinking is right, I may have fabricated an idea that could help their car go the distance… As it stands, any car covered in cloth is unlikely to be given the green light by any road agency in either Europe or the US.

When the BMW GINA Light Concept debuted, it stretched (literally) the definition of what a car is and can be. It also drew a bit of confusion on the name. What's a GINA?
