Twitter, Tina Fey, and the Future of Micro-Blogging

http://mashable.com/ 2008/ 05/ 15/ micro-blogging/
This guest post was contributed by Bernard Moon, who authors the blog Silicon Moon. When the sitcom "30 Rock" began its run, some of my friends weren't wild about Tina Fey, the show's star and creator, saying she should "stay in the writer's room" or that she "looked too mousy." A few months later, however, those same guys were talking about how hot she was. ...

On Bike to Work Day (May 16) Commute, Don't Pollute in Baltimore, DC, San Diego

    http://www.sergetheconcierge.com/ 2008/ 05/ on-bike-to-work.html

Many cities celebrate Bike to Work Day 2008 on Friday, May 16. Amongst them the Baltimore metropolitan area which uses the day to kick off their Clean Commute Month. The reason behind it is that May is the beginning of the ground-level ozone season, when we hear about Code Red and Orange Ozone Action Days.

    Photographing rocks

    http://www.vianegativa.us/ 2008/ 05/ 16/ photographing-rocks/

From Pohanginapete, a mediation on what it means to be an artist in a time of slow-motion apocalypse: The comment reminded me of Henri Cartier-Bresson’s famous remark, “The world is going to pieces and people like Adams and Weston are photographing rocks.” I thought about the justification for

    Benefits Of Blogging - A Practitioner’s Perspective

    http://www.kaushik.net/ avinash/ 2008/ 05/ benefits-of-blogging-a-practitioners-…

Two things in this post: 1) Quick reflection on a birthday. 2) My perspective on the benefits from blogging. Hopefully you’ll have as much fun reading this as I did writing the post. Act 1. Occam’s Razor (the web analytics blog, not the principle!) is exactly two years old today.

    Pleasing the Masses

    http://www.imbloggingthat.com/ 2008/ 05/ 16/ how-to-make-your-blog-work-for-most…

One of the harder aspects of blogging is feeling as though to get the attention you deserve, you have to please the masses. In general, people who are visiting and commenting on your blog posts have to love all elements or they’re not going to come back. At least, that’s probably what you’ve told yourself or you’ve read in 1,000 blog posts.

    We’ve Gone Nuclear

    http://mudpuppy.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 16/ weve-gone-nuclear/

I won’t deny that I enjoy following the blog stats. I mentioned recently how I’ve been getting more comfortable following the Technorati numbers (favorite me while you’re thinking about it). But I can honestly say that I haven’t really done all I could to make my stats explode.

BLU’s Muto: animation on a public wall. Beautiful surely, but I couldn’t help but think about all the artwork he covered up to make it (I know, it’s a public wall, it comes with the territory.) Thanks to Ry-Tron and everyone else who sent this in! The Octo-Dog Frankfurter Converter.

    Blog break

    http://blogs.bootsnall.com/ Grannygold/ blog-break.html

It’s time for a blog break. Coming to Portland, settling in, discovering what a great place the northwestern USA is, finding the rhythm of life as a “retired” person–all that was something to blog about. It was exciting to discover who my father (probably) was, and his father before him.
