The Microsoft-Yahoo Story In Cartoons Written By Allen Stern - May 8, 2008 A Cartooning Experiment has created a variety of cartoons about the Microsoft-Yahoo deal. The cartoons were created using Bitstrips, a company we interviewed on video at SXSW. Bitstrips really is a pretty fun Web app.

The folks over at BITSTRIPS are in the throes of birthing their own social network of amateur comic strip writers. I have been happy to participate in my own way, with the KINGDOM OF CALE and other series. Recently, Pauly Hart, one of my friends on BitStrips, engaged in a spate of creativity that reminds me strongly of the CALEDON TRADING GAME I posted here last September.

So in addition to Bitstrips, another site Toonlet has trucked on out of the internet tubes. Both sites promise an easy way to make and share your very own webcomic with minimal artistic skill of your own. As you can see above, they have very different “feels” or styles to them, and I can’t decide which I prefer.

[click to embiggen] Jennifer called me at work today just to tell me that she had fallen in love with Bitstrips. She also uploaded this comic to Facebook. I guess being turned into an ashy-colored flamer is payback for my character design of her looking like an angry drag queen who was 60% boobs.
