Barras Fired By WAMU Posted by Erik Wemple on May. 13, 2008, at 10:54 am Jonetta Rose Barras, the fiery veteran D.C. political analyst, has been fired by her bosses at WAMU-FM, where she served as co-host of the Friday noon show The Politics Hour With Kojo and Jonetta.

So, am back from the opening night of the ‘Not A Penny’ show, and damn was it good. Many people met, many discussions had, and some art viewed too. It was a crazy night, let me tell you about what i can… Got there later than intended, and saw the first of the shutter pieces i’d heard were being done.

Was hoping to bring you a review of the Will Barras show at Stolenspace in Shoreditch, but, erm, can’t… Not a massive inconvenience though, cos the Stolenspace website has some really good photos of both the work and the opening night, so do go check it out!

By George… Is that another kick ass art show from a British crackerjack I spy? Will Barras has done his thing all over a bunch of canvases and will be hanging them up for your viewing pleasure at his solo show, La Paz. Get down to StolenSpace Gallery before April 20 and cast your eyes on his “psychedelic abstraction” (clever words from a real art critic, not us).

Current exhibition - La Paz (Will Barras) @ StolenSpace by Mark ~ April 15th, 2008 ‘La Paz’, opening at the StolenSpace Gallery on the 3rd April will showcase new works by Will Barras. The show will feature paintings on canvas, linen and fabric in acrylic alongside the release of 2 new screen prints hand pulled by the artist.

The story of the Barrowland is colourful, even by dance hall standards. Tradition has it that Margaret McIver, the extraordinary entrepreneur who, with her husband, James, built up the Barras market from one barrow selling fish and fruit, gave a dance for all her stallholders every Christmas.
