Participating in Alec Saunders’ Squawk Box this morning

    http://abrilliantblog.com/ 2008/ 05/ participating-in-alec-saunders-squawk-box-t…

I was very excited this morning to get to participate in Alec Saunders podcast called Squawk Box. It’s a conference call led by Alec and mostly about the daily tech news. I was amongst some of the heavy hitters this morning and felt like a small fish in a big sea.

Follow Up to Advice for PR Consultants Post

    http://owstarr.com/ 2008/ 05/ 14/ follow-up-to-advice-for-pr-consultants-post/

Two things have happened in the past few days that, at least my own opinion, emphasize the facts in my prior post: first that PR people typically don’t have a clue when it comes to dealing with bloggers (the very same day I posted the story I was emailed by no less than 3 PR people who each managed to violate every basic tenet of approaching a blogger that I’d laid out in my post).

    VON Conferences: RIP?

    http://p10.hostingprod.com/ @skypejournal.com/ blog/ 2008/ 05/ von_conferences_r…

My first connection to the communications market came through a VON Canada event in 2004 in the Greater Toronto Area; at that time I was working with a collaboration product and wanted to see if there was a role for it in the overall communications space.

Andy Abramson at VoIP Watch has attempted to respond to last week's two stories that created a lot of buzz: The Skype Killer to which I responded: Much Ado About Nothing and, subsequently, The Chickens Come Home to Roost - the IP Communications Saga Continues, and The Clearwire/Sprint/Google/Intel story about a WiMax carrier partnership.

    http://digitalmediaupdate.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ telcoscable-operators-skype-ki…

Last week, two major stories broke in the communications space -- first, Om Malik's closely followed report that many of the major telcos may be planning to launch a "Skype Killer" in 2009; and second, the formation of a new WiMax consortium led by Sprint, Intel, Google, Time Warner cable and others.

Andy Digs Deep on the WiMax Deal

    http://www.sidecutreports.com/ 2008/ 05/ 13/ andy-digs-deep-on-the-wimax-deal/

Good stuff from pal Andy Abramson about what the new Clearwire might do differently, instead of just acting like another DSL or mobile-phone option: Go deep with video, says Andy: Instead of simply being another voice play to battle Skype or the mobile operators, the WiMax companies and the cable
