    A Little Bite of Heaven

    http://suzr.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 08/ a-little-piece-of-heaven/

As I write this, I have retreated momentarily to the bliss that is the Havanna alfajor. To explain: a few days ago I got an email from my friend and former EuroCheapo cohort Alex Robertson Textor, with whom I had coffee plans a few days later.

    Sinful Dulce de Leche

    http://stilllifeinbuenosaires.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 04/ sinful-dulce-de-leche…

Sinful Dulce de Leche The day I ordered this concoction, I mistakenly thought my friend had ordered food. I ordered a dessert with the thought that if I ordered too, she would not feel singled out eating alone. After I received his dessert fit for a princess, I found out that she had decided against ordering.

    Eating Argentina

Eating Argentina Alfajores and matambre and steak, oh my! All the cool kids seem to be hanging out in Argentina these days (so says the New York Times). Filmmakers, creatives, even bloggers. Maggie Mason—otherwise known as Mighty Girl—spent a month down there this winter and returned with her pick

    SIDES

Mama Ocllo’s Peruvian cookies Simple as it is, Mama Ocllo’s advertising hits square in the stomach: photos of burger-sized alfajores (dusted in sugar and stuffed with only the darkest dulce de leche) that look like they could end any meal. Thankfully, the buttery Peruvian cookies, which best most of Europe’s multinational treasures, can end any meal.

    Ode to the Alfajor

    http://suzr.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 03/ 11/ ode-to-the-alfajor/

With Easter two weeks away and me still not eating sweets (ok, a few bites of cake to celebrate my friend Lauren’s birthday, but really we should have celebrated it in December so I’ll say I ate the cake then?), I find myself dreaming of alfajores… I’m not actually going to write an ode as I’ve never been much of a poet.

    Let Them Eat.... Alfajores!

    http://eatmefood.blogspot.com/ 2007/ 11/ let-them-eat-alfajores.html

I have been very unorganized of late, and it was quite by accident that I stumbled across the Latin American festival today in Melbourne. I just couldn’t help buying a boxful of traditional dulce de leche filled pastries to gorge myself on. Let them eat…alfajores, I say! So I did.
