For a week, I was getting an error whenever I wanted to write a post via windows live writer. Yesterday, I did a chat with my hosting company’s technical support operator and he told me that they had banned XMLRPC because hackers were using that for their evil purposes.

I’ve encountered a weird error in Wordpress … for some reason, when a post is submitted using the XML-RPC api (which is used by the Wordpress iPhone app), any leading ‘<’ symbols on the HTML is being stripped out. Ginny noticed this a few days ago and I just confirmed it on a test blog.

Wordpress 2.6.2 APIs is disabled

Today,when I have rebuilded my blog by wordpress 2.6.2, I found that the XML-RPC was disabled by default . It means that you couldn’t use windows live writer and zoundry blog writer or the other blog editers to publish posts.What do you think of that? I know it is for security.

Dare left something out (and it’s important). Dave Winer: “You should at least learn the lessons and add to REST what it needs to catch up with XML-RPC. Seriously. What’s missing in REST, btw, is a standard method of serializing structs, lists and scalar types.” That would be JSON.
