So much depends on the wind

A whole bunch of fire departments just outside of L.A. responded to fires too. By dark, we had ours contained, while in southern California, homes were burning. We had a gentle breeze; they had Santa Anna winds with gusts up to 65 mph.

Fire, Fire Everywhere

People have been evacuated and at least 3 people have died so far as a direct result of the fire and/or smoke.Fire season is here again. I live at the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains so smoke just seems to accumulate here. Many of the fires start in the mountains also.

Marek Fire

Before the winds increased, containment had been reported at 20 percent.

Sesnon Fire

There is no word on containment, and structures are threatened. Higher winds are expected for Monday night.
