Last Saturday Charlie and I decided to play tourists for a day and drove down to the Venice canals. I’d been wanting to walk around this neighborhood for awhile. There’s something so kitschy and yet so enticing about the idea of an entire city (at least at one time) of man-made canals. Very Vegas, you’d think.

No, it’s not Venice.  It’s the Gondola ride at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Okay, it’s a little touristy, and it’s definitely NOT Venice, but it’s still a bit of romantic fun away from the flashing lights and noise of the casinos.  You need to take a break from the fast paced action some time, and this isn’t a bad choice.

I had been to Venice twice already. The first time was in October 2005 and the second was last April 2006. I love this city too. We had last April 2006 a porcelain shopping in Nova, Italia (Nove, Italy) and then proceeded here in Venice.
