Another Parental Rite of Passage
http://www.girldetective.net/ ?p=1640Another Parental Rite of Passage October 10th, 2008 2.5yo Guppy and I are off to the doctor’s office to get a strep culture. Never had to do it with 5yo Drake. It helps much that Guppy clearly is in pain as he swallows, and says his mouth hurts.

Buh-Bye, B Shows
http://www.girldetective.net/ ?p=1639Buh-Bye, B Shows October 7th, 2008 Normally autumn, with its launch of the television season here in the US, is one of my favorite times of the year. I devour the Entertainment Weekly guide to fall TV, reading it to tatters, then carefully plot out what I’m going to watch, and how, since our Tivo can “only” record two shows at a time.

Seriously?
http://www.girldetective.net/ ?p=1638Seriously? October 7th, 2008 This morning, 5yo Drake woke up complaining of stomach pain. He skipped dinner last night, so I knew what to expect. Things You Always Wanted To Know About Charles Laughton
http://sistasmiff.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 09/ 28/ things-you-always-wanted-to-know-…I have been succesful in my plan to do nothing today, for the most part. Oh, I did the usual tidy-up-the-place things but other than that? Nada. I did, however, engage in my guilty pleasure of indulging in a Classic movie that I am now thinking is toward the top of my Top Ten list of favorite classic movies.

Pete And His Pit Bull-Tiger Dog
http://brodyharper.com/ 2008/ 09/ 27/ pete-and-his-pit-bull-tiger-dog/Picture this. It’s a few years from now, Nashville has run out of gas again, but this time it’s worse. This time we officially have reached a “Mad Max” state and there’s a huge colony of us living in a deserted downtown area. Sort of like the second Matrix, but without the weird rave scene.

Esquire’s “75 Books Every Man Should Read”
http://www.girldetective.net/ ?p=1624Esquire’s “75 Books Every Man Should Read” September 24th, 2008 Esquire doesn’t even pretend to objectivity in its “75 Books Every Man Should Read“: An unranked, incomplete, utterly biased list of the greatest works of literature ever published. That’s a good thing. And many of the books are pretty good too.
