Buick Open Predictions June 23rd, 2008 Next up, the Buick Open, at Warwick Hills outside of Detroit, MI. A par 72, 7127 yards, the pros eat this course up—expect lots of birdies. In 2007, for example, out of 55 courses the Tour played, Warwick Hills ranked 45th in difficulty.

It’s time—the U.S. Open is finally here. Torrey Pines South Course, June 12-15. Par 71, 7,643 yards, 379 yards longer than any previous U.S. Open layout. Fairways ranging from 24 to 33 yards, six feet of intermediate rough cut at 1.75 inches, then 20 feet of primary rough at 2.5 inches, then deep rough cut at 5 inches.

Steve Flesch is not a fan of the setup at Memorial. And he blames it on Jack Nicklaus. No player came to town this week saying, "Please groove the bunkers and make the rough tall enough to hide rhinos." Who, then? "It's a four-letter word, and he runs this place," Flesch said. Yeow.

Memorial Tournament Predictions May 27th, 2008 No Tiger this week at the Memorial. Good. I’m really not sure how he’ll play coming back—whether he’ll need some time to get the rust off, like the rest of the mere mortals, or whether he’ll just jump back in to domination. At least I won’t have to make that call today.
