With so many footy matches every weekend, wouldn't it be great if you knew the results beforehand so that you could concentrate on watching the good ones? I mean, I probably still would have watched Arsenal-Hull even knowing the outcome, but that's just because I like to torture myself.

Let's give some more links on this Tuesday evening here on the East Coast of the States. First, Bruce Allen of the Boston Sports Media Watch transcribes a segment on WEEI's The Big Show with the Big Fat Tub of Lard, Glenn Ordway in which he attacks fantasy football and those who play it.

Now everyone can see highlights of yesterday’s Croatia-England match as itv have stumped up “a low six-figure sum” for the highlights. itv had previously offered half a million pounds for highlights, but were rejected by Setanta.

According to Media Guardian, Setanta is broadcasting free-to-air highlights of Croatia v England later this evening on its own channel! This is very odd. They're reported to have turned down an offer of £500,000 from ITV. And now, at the very last minute, they offer these free highlights.

As the Setanta issue rumbles on with no terrestrial highlights likely to be available for a terrestrial service for the Croatia away game for England on Wednesday, I've just had a scary thought. Essentially Setanta purchased both live coverage and highlights of the fixture.

So if you don't have Setanta, and can't make it to a pub that's showing Setanta, the only coverage you're going to have of England's World Cup qualifiers against Andorra on Saturday, and Croatia next week is going to be goal clips on the news. There is, of course, radio coverage too.
