Fantasia On American Idol Singing Bore MeAfter Fantasias performance on American Idol last night, one thing is clear. Fantasia is either a talent you love or hate. Those who love her music, pretty much worship her and call her the modern Tina Turner.

As this semester, and my year here, draws to a close, I'd like to set out a few of the things that made this place special, fun, and challenging. Things that I Enjoyed: The wonderful support given to term faculty here. We are treated pretty much exactly the same as t-t folks.

I have just recieved a confirmation e-mail from Leeds artist, Slac B (www.myspace.com/defendersofstyle), who says that he will let us use some of his music within our film. I've listened to a few tracks on his MySpace page and they sound wicked - real, chilled out hiphop beats that would be perfect for the graffiti section as well as a number of the skating sections.

Long-time readers may recall that my brutal initiation into faculty politics began almost two years ago with this task force I was appointed to. It was a hideous and yet intriguing experience, comprised of very long days, lots of debate, and close-up encounters with people who are certifiably insane.

So, the drama of campus politics continues. One of the (many) issues that consumes people these days here is the sense that everyone is being unfairly, unjustly, and endlessly over-worked. A Schemer (one whom I don't particularly like) just came in to my office, saying angrily, "Seriously!

I'm catching up with old Sun related news again. 2007's Top 10 Underreported Tech Stories Good that Snyder considers Sun is back in the game (we've sort of known that for a while now). Bad that he considers Java the new Cobol. Lots of interesting news there though with Open Source strategy and Blade servers.

I am finally back from my long trip out west to attend Sunny West Coast Location Conference. Technically I didn't have to go for five days, but I figured if I am spending hundreds of dollars to fly out there, I might as well make the most of my time. So the husband went with me, and we made it a mini-vacation.
