IBM replants chip-cooling tech in solar farms

    http://www.globalsoon.com/ html/ ibm-replants-chip-cooling-tech-in-solar-farms.h…

IBM has developed technology that will let solar cells withstand the heat of more than a 1,000 suns. At a technical conference on Thursday, representatives from IBM Research’s photovoltaics research will present a method for cooling concentrating photovoltaics, a solar design where light is magnified onto high-performance solar cells.

My First PV installation, production in April

    http://blog.alternative-energy-guide.com/ 2008/ 05/ my-first-pv-installation-pro…

Early 2003 I installed my first string of grid connected solar panels. Four 120 Wp panels, stringed together and generating about 4 amps DC at 90 - 110 V. Enough for about 400 Watts AC in the full sun. The theoretical 480 Watts are sometimes exceeded in early spring when the sky is very clear and temperatures are still low.

    Solar Lily Pads

    http://janetmarinelli.com/ 2008/ 05/ solar-lily-pads/

Water-lilies do it, so why not us? In a beautiful example of biomimicry, Scottish architects have designed a series of lily pad-like photovoltaic cells that will float in Glasgow’s River Clyde like a string of giant Victoria amazonica leaves, soaking up solar energy and sending electricity to the city’s grid.

Guess the VEIL Solar Shades concept might come true earlier than expected, although in a different form. Scottish architecture firm ZM Architecture will be proposing Solar Lily Pads that will float about in Glasgow’s River Clyde, obtaining juice from the sun in order to generate electricity for the entire city.
