Complicating Factors and the Holistic Approach to Recovery

    http://www.spiritualriver.com/ complicating-factors-and-the-holistic-approach-to…

There are a number of potential complicating factors in recovery. Why? Because addiction is complicated. Many people disagree with the idea that recovery is complex. “Coke whore.” When I first heard that term applied to someone, I had recently moved to Aspen, Colorado, as a junior in high school. Just a country girl fresh from the farm in rural Oklahoma, I was shocked to learn that a coke whore spent her time providing her services for the pleasure of snorting lines of cocaine.

    4 Minute Devotions: Payback

    http://stushie.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 08/ 4-minute-devotions-payback/

Sometimes we are too zealous in our outrage at the world that we want to payback evil with evil. Payback belongs to the Lord; we are meant to love our enemies and forgive those who hurt us.   Podcast version here 2 Thessalonians 1:6   God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you.

Resentment is no Longer the Number One Offender

    http://www.spiritualriver.com/ resentment-is-no-longer-the-number-one-offender/

John MacDougall of Hazelden rightly points out that resentment is no longer the number one offender, as stated in the Big Book of AA, but complacency is. Why is this, you ask? And how could the big book of AA possibly be wrong? Because the founders of AA who wrote the big book could only use the information they had at the time.

    Three weeks without Igoogle

    http://jenkem.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 05/ three-weeks-without-igoogle/

I spent two days away from the Internet. While being away, I felt no urge to check blogs or email. Now while writing this I’ve been six hours on line. This small piece of writing is everything I’ve produced today. I browsed some blogs with no interest. No topic caught my attention.

Addiction and Recovery - We Must Expand Our Solution Set Beyond Current Treatment Options

    http://www.spiritualriver.com/ addiction-and-recovery-we-must-expand-our-solutio…

Or is it possible that our current “solution set” to the problem of addiction is lacking in some way? The relapse rate for recovering drug addicts and alcoholics are dismal.
