    http://vistaishere.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 15/ im-checking-out-the-new-open-off…

And at a first look there’s nothing to remark. There’s a new start screen opening via a desktop shortcut : Pressing the Open Document button in the new start panel will use the new Vista file dialog (which is a good point !): But after opening the new document I started and trying to save it

Saving images out of an ODF (OpenOffice) Document

    http://campus-codemonkeys.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ saving-images-out-of-odf-openo…

We recently had the need to extract some images out of a functional specification document that we received. In OpenOffice, when you right-click on an image, there is no option to "Save Image to File". In order to pull the images of the document, you need to save the document in the ODF (native OpenOffice) format.

Review of the New OpenOffice 3 beta

    http://opencomputer.net/ 2008/ 05/ 15/ review-of-the-new-openoffice-3-beta/

Our favorite office app, OpenOffice has just released the OOo 3.0 beta version. My review can be summed up in two words: it rocks! Ok, now you can go back to your other activities. Just kiddin, let’s dig a bit deeper. First, since this isn’t a stable release you might not want to install this version yet as your main office application.

    http://roytang.net/ blog/ 2008/ 05/ openoffice-calc-24-vs-microsoft-excel/

An alpha release was just announced for Open Office 3. Being an Ubuntu user, Open Office is really the only sane choice I have for an office suite. At work I’m using Microsoft Office 2007. Among the office suite applications, I’m most of a power user for the spreadsheet applications.

    Viva Italia

    http://lin08.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 14/ viva-italia/

One place where Lindependence 2008 is making somewhat of a splash is the land of my ancestors, Italy. A blogger in Italy named ercolinux wrote two items — one here where he writes about Lindependence and one here where he translates the Declaration of Lindependence into Italian.
