For the last couple of weeks I have been absorbed within the NHL Playoffs. I have been following the playoffs through CBC Sports and TSN. Both networks have offered incredible access to videos throughout the season and now in the Playoffs. Today I came across a great report by Jermaine Franklin, a TSN caster who follows the Calgary Flames.

I partially agree with him; for some reason 'showing emotion' usually means losing composure, and that's not really a great leadership quality.

This years installment of the NHL Play-offs will indeed hold many excitng stories, and will include several surprises that will likely cause many to fret. At this point many teams are still jockeying for a position many looking to finish anywhere between first in their division or 8th in the western conference.

Earlier this year, one of my few posts of 2007-08 led off with a yarn about how Kristian Huselius was as streaky a player as there is. At the time, he was on. Now — and for the past month — he’s off. And it hurts like a cross-check to the kidney.

Rumors are swirling that Flames GM Darryl Sutter has begun negotiations with pending UFA centerman Daymond Lankgow. This despite the fact the organization has more than $44M already committed to next season, with players like Yelle (1M)*, Hale (800k), Huselius (4M+), Conroy (1.5M) and Nolan (1.5M) also needing to be re-signed or replaced.

  With all the recent trade talk surrounding Alex Tanguay most thought he would not play another shift for the Calgary Flames after Tuesday.  Well not only is that wrong, but he got a promotion.  At practice Tanguay was on the Flames top line with Jarome Iginla and Daymond Langkow.  Mike Keenan removed Kristian Huselius from the top line after his hot play had cooled in recent games.
