Ive been tracking this news for several weeks now and, whilst initially I thought it was some sort of scam/prank/hot air, as more information has emerged, the more Ive realised the seriousness of what Dan Kaminsky discovered about the DNS infrastructure and how, more importantly, it cannot be fixed.

    According to website Zone-H, a group of Turkish hackers hijacked ICANN and IANA domain names on Thursday morning. All of the domain names are registered at Register.com. The group took over control of the domain names, including icann.com, icann.net, iana.com and iana-servers.com.

    Yesterday a group of hackers called NetDevilz hijacked ICANN and IANA domains (screenshot below). It’s the same group that  hijacked Photobucket’s domain on 18 June, 2008. ICANN is the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers whose job is to oversee a number of Internet-related tasks previously performed directly on behalf of the U.S.
