    What if?

    http://blog.greens.org.nz/ 2008/ 08/ 29/ what-if/

I wonder if the Prime Minister is looking back at the quiet issue-focused way the Greens have gone about getting their policy implemented over the last 3 years and is now ruing the choices she made putting together her governing arrangements back in 2005 with Winston Peters’ NZ First Party and Peter

    Hell Yeah

Democracy, too, is a religion. It is the worship of jackals by jackasses. -Mencken Across the street from the bar, two dozen protesters under the watchful eye of a statue of Adolph Coors waved American flags, blew air horns and revved motorcycle engines. "Al Jazeera is terrorism," announced one sign.

'Chinese Democracy' leak prompts FBI manhunt

    http://blogs.courant.com/ eric_danton_sound_check/ 2008/ 08/ chinese-democracy-l…

It seems like federal agents would have more pressing concerns, like chasing down terrorists, but the FBI found enough time this week to stage an early morning raid on the guy who allegedly leaked songs from Guns N' Roses perpetual work in progress, "Chinese Democracy." Kevin Cogill, 27, of Los

    Islam vs Liberal Democracy

    http://www.indonesiamatters.com/ 2395/ liberal-democracy/

Perseus on Francis Fukuyama and whether Islamism will derail Indonesia’s new democracy. In a recent article, writing in reaction to Russia’s recent “clobbering” of Georgia, the noted American political theorist Francis Fukuyama, best known for his work The End of History, tells us [1] that US dominance is slipping.

The Conventions are Coming...and CGD is Going!

    http://blogs.cgdev.org/ globaldevelopment/ 2008/ 08/ the_conventions_are_cominga…

Everyone says August in Washington, D.C. is quiet. That is of course, unless you are planning to attend the presidential conventions and from what I can tell, just about everyone is sending someone to the conventions. And this time around, CGD is going to both of them.

    Brown isn’t ‘bonkers’ enough

    http://www.liberalconspiracy.org/ 2008/ 08/ 28/ brown-isnt-bonkers-enough/

I gather that some fat bloke who always refers to himself in the third person has suggested that Gordon Brown might be ‘bonkers’. Right-thinking people have condemned this. My complaint is different. It’s that, to paraphrase Niels Bohr, Brown is not “bonkers” enough. Take first the jibe that Brown is “faintly autistic”.

    Swaggering Imbeciles

    http://www.deeshaa.org/ 2008/ 08/ 28/ swaggering-imbeciles-2/

Newly educated and semi-educated classes - social or intellectual - seek positions in government bureaucracies or social advocacy rather than in industry and commerce where competence is inarguably measured at the end of every business quarter.

    Chinese Democracy Brings Jail Term

    http://www.buzzine.com/ 2008/ 08/ chinese-democracy-brings-jail-term/

It’s been in the making for over ten years, and regardless of how good it actually is, there’s no denying that Chinese Democracy, the upcoming album by Guns N’ Roses, has tons of buzz surrounding it. The rotating contributors, the absurdly long gestation period, Axl Rose’s notorious attitude — this album is a legend in the making (good or bad, we’ll find out).

by Gene Rose A hug in Illinois sent shock waves throughout the state yesterday. Could this be a new tool for lawmakers across the nation to consider when trying to reach compromise? The hug heard throughout the state occurred when,...

Freedom and its Price in the Georgian Conflict

    http://www.earnticle.com/ business-and-finance/ freedom-and-its-price-in-the-geo…

Normally the articles I write deal with sports, photography, or sports memorabilia preservation. Now, given that the Beijing Olympics are in progress, the general assumption is that I have an unlimited number of topics to discuss. Needless to say this article is about a different topic occurring in the news.
